Delhi is one city which has no dearth of destinations around it to spend a weekend. From Uttarakhand, to Himachal Pradesh and Rajasthan, there are many tourist destinations around Delhi. But there are also those offbeat destinations which you may not know of. Here is the list.
Pangot – the trove of a birdwatcher – All of us have heard of Nainital, but how many have heard of Pangot? This is a hill station in Nainital itself, and it also a paradise for bird watchers and nature lovers. There have been records of nearly 550 varieties of birds found here, so you can expect too many colors and tunes in the form of birds when you visit the place. Though the place is offbeat, you can still find good resorts here. So accommodation is not a problem. If you have taken Delhi local tour packages, and have a weekend the next day, do visit this place.
Binsar – roaring predators to towering peaks – This is an extremely surreal place and looks great. You can get amazing views of the Nanda Devi and Trisul along with wildlife sanctuary here. Your wanderlust is sure to feel satiated at this place. Located at nearly 2500 meters above the sea level, the place is one of the most towering hill towns in the Kumaon region of Uttarakhand. It remains an offbeat place which is yet to be crowded by tourists.
Darang – too much of refreshment and freshness – Now this is another of the many beauties in Himachal Pradesh. Located in close proximity from Mcleodganj, Darang comes on the way to Palampur. You can have a walk at the lush green tea gardens which roll over the beautiful hills. You will be treated to the constant chirping of the birds here. This place also qualifies as an offbeat one. The view of the Duladhar ranges from here is unforgettable experience.
Pithoragarh – a godly place – Pithoragarh district located in the Kumaon region in the state of Uttarakhand is beyond true beauty. The beauty of this splendid place is simply beyond explanation. Enveloped by the towering and snow clad peaks, green valley and alpine forests and the perennially flowing rivers, this is definitely one of the most beautiful offbeat places near Delhi which still remains un-spoilt by the rapidcommercialism. Also do visit the Soar Valley here. It is a great place for weekend getaways around Delhi.
Munsiyari – meeting point of beauty and peace – Munsiyari is another popular but off beat destination among trekkers and mountaineers but it’s still counted as one of the lesser known destinations near Delhi because it’s not yet populated regularly by the tourists. The great part about the quaint little place in Uttarakhand is that one can enjoy a great view of the mighty Panchachuli peaks here. Also, it is the starting point for Milam glacier trek.
Now that you know where to find peace, and where to find the least tourist population, look out for the holidays in the calendar and plan your trip accordingly. There is no dearth of new places in India.
