Exploring Dadra and Nagar Haveli

Blessed with nature’s bounty, the Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli is wedged between Gujarat and Maharashtra, whereas Dadra is a enclave 1 KM NW (North West) bounded by Gujarat. It shares capital named Silvassa. The larger part is spread over a large, roughly C-shaped area 12–30 KM up-river from the city of Daman on the coast at the centre of which, and therefore, outside the territory Madhuban reservoir is established. Dadra and Nagar Haveli (DNH) are in the middle of the quite rising and falling watershed of the Daman Ganga River, after which the reservoir gushes through Nagar Haveli and later, forms the southern border of Dadra. The territory is landlocked, but the Arabian Sea lies to the west in Gujarat. This land was administered by the Portuguese colonialists from the year 1779 to 1954 and after its liberation; it was merged with the Indian Union after 1961. Its capital, Silvassa is a sloppy and sleepy town with tall trees lining the roads, quaint sylvan surroundings and lush green forests. This Union Territory spans over an area of 487 sq km and attracts tourists with nonpareil colonial charm and the beautiful kaleidoscope of flora and fauna. The best time to visit this place is between the month of October and May.

By Air: Daman is the nearest airport. However, the most convenient airport is at Mumbai, which connects this place to other with major cities in India.

By Rail: Vapi railway station is the nearest railhead (15 KM away) to this place. This station connects this destination to other major cities and places in India.

By Road: Silvassa is connected by good motorable roads to important places and major cities in India. Daman is just 44 KM, Mumbai is 168 KM and Surat is 129 KM away by road.

This museum is a draw card for the tourists willing to have a glance at the native people and their culture at single place.

Bal Udyanbal udhyan

It is a famous children park that replete with swings, merry-go-rounds and seesaws. Bal Udyan also has a mini-zoo with pythons, crocodiles and an aquarium of tropical fish.

Vandhara Udyan

Vandhara Udyan is a wonderful garden with bright bougainvillea and landscaped lawns shaped into hexagons by lantanas or separated by dark green hedges of casuarinas.
